Vince Papale graduated St. Joseph's College, taught at Interboro School District, and served as head coach for track & field and assistant football coach. In 1976, at the age of 30, Vince tried out for the Philadelphia Eagles, made the team, and became the oldest rookie in the history of the NFL. He still holds that record. He was with the Eagles for four seasons as a wide receiver and was voted Special Teams Captain. A shoulder injury ended his
career in 1979.

Invincible

Papale was voted Man of the Year by the Eagles in 1978, for his many charitable activities and honored by the NFL. Vince Papale's never say die attitude became the inspiration for turning the Eagles into a Super Bowl team. After being retired by the Eagles after the 1979 season Papale was a TV and Radio broadcaster for eight years. After that he entered the world of commercial mortgage banking, which led to his present position as a Marketing Executive for Sallie Mae.

Vince Papale is a colorectal cancer survivor who is sought after as a speaker to raise awareness on cancer prevention. He has served as chairman or co-chairman for various associations including the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans, Spina Bifada Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Heart Association.

Invincible, the movie about Papale, was released August 25. It opened to rave reviews, finishing #1 at the box office two weeks in a row. Invincible stars Mark Wahlberg as Papale, Greg Kinnear as Eagles Coach Dick Vermeil, and Elizabeth Banks as Papale’s wife Janet.
