Phil Heron to Speak on May 17th

Phil Heron, editor of the Daily Times, will be the guest speaker at the Delaware County Press Club's May 17 luncheon meeting at D'Ignazio's Towne House Restaurant in Media.

Heron joined the Daily Times in 1982 as day city editor. He later worked on the night copy desk and also as Sunday editor. He became associate editor in January 1989 and was named editor in April 1999.

Prior to joining the Daily Times, Heron worked as a reporter and wire editor at The Record in Coatesville. He also worked on the copy desk of the Denver Post and as a freelance writer for the Colorado Daily in Boulder, Colorado.

Heron has won numerous awards from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, the Philadelphia Press Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists for column and editorial writing as well as headline writing.
